Using HyperWorks Enables Multi-Disciplinary Optimization of Complex Turbofan Aero Engines

Using HyperWorks in Multi-Disciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) of Fan Static structures is a key driver to provide relevant data for the decision making process efficiently in early design phases.

The design challenges with fan static components lies within the topological complexity, variety and high degree of physical integration with the engine architecture that require any design and evaluation support to be highly flexible and efficient.

This presentation will show the whole process with main focus on the automated process in HyperMesh, which enables generation of specific FE-models for several analyses that is required to create a robust design space to ultimately find an optimal structure for detail design studies.
