Frequency & Amplitude Dependent Bushing Model Implementation in Full-Vehicle Simulation

Bushings are used commonly as compliant connectors in automobiles. Bushings exhibit complex behavior such as dependence on the frequency of the input, the amplitude of the input, and the preload in the bushing when it is mounted in an automobile. Bushings are commonly tested by suppliers and test data conforming to strict specifications are provided to automotive OEMs. This presentation describes the importance of including these dependences, the test data needed to capture the behavior, and the use of analytical bushing models in vehicle simulation. This is a project in cooperation with Altair. An explanation of the test-to-model process is provided.
