Simulation Integration into the Safety Child Seat Development with HyperWorks Tools

The design of the Child Restraint Systems CRS (or car seats) integrates many constraints from more severe safety aspects to the reduction of  the weight and the need to improve the ease of installation and uninstallation.

This paper presents the design approach for the development of a CRS based on the new regulation known as the “I-Size regulation” UN R129, adopted in 2013 by the UNECE.

The first part is an overview of the conceptual  phase  based on the topologic optimization integrating the linearization of the crash load cases.

The second part is consecrated of the crash simulation not only  for the CRS integrity  validation  but also for the CRS performance.
