Analysis Process in Mobile Crane Development

Mobile cranes are based on complex welding structures mostly made from high tensile steels with yield points above 900 N/mm² and plate thicknesses around 5 ~ 40 mm. The cranes load bearing main parts are a telescoping boom a slewing upper structure and a steel-bridge-like carrier frame with outriggers.

During FE optimization most work has to be done by transferring 3D CAD structures to high quality FE shell models.

With Hyperworks meshing & geometry tools it is possible to create those models in shortest possible time with best results due to a high meshing quality and a straight forward geometry manipulation.
