Simulation of Electric Drives and Closed Loop Controls in MotionView

The drive system of knitting machines consists of several mechanisms which are driven by one electric drive with closed loop control. It is characterized by a strong interaction between the mechanisms and the electrical part of the system. This necessitates the modeling and simulation of both parts. This paper demonstrates how the total system including an asynchronous motor and a closed loop control is modeled within MotionView. Additionally a strategy to find out the necessary depth of modeling is addressed. A comparison of results from a pure mechanical model with those of the interdisciplinary model shows the significance of an adequate depth of modeling.
