MR Damper and Active Suspension Modeling for Body Loads Prediction

Active suspension systems are being applied to higher-end passenger vehicles, and are predicted to be increasingly popular. One such component is the magnetorheological (MR) damper, with damping properties that vary with an applied current dependent on vehicle states. A system like this has the capability to produce a wide range of damping forces with the potential to significantly impact body and suspension component durability. There is a vital need to develop the simulation capability to assess such impact. This presentation will share some of the findings in developing this capability.
